2014-15:
Queen's University High School Debating Tournament (January 9th-11th, 2015):
  • Round 1 - This House would ban private rehabilitation programmes.
  • Round 2 - This House would protect the right to be "forgotten" from internet searches. (i.e., any person may request personal information about them to be deleted from search engines.)
  • Round 3 - This House, as a progressive female candidate, would not use conventional gender roles. (e.g., marketing oneself as a mother, as a wife) as a tactic in political campaigns.)
  • Round 4 - This House believes that media outlets ought not report the content of corporate documents which are suspected to be leaked by foreign governments.
  • Round 5 - This House, as an established art museum (eg, Louvre, Victoria & Albert), would opt to show works by lesser known artists at the expense of famous artists from the same time period.
  • Round 6 - This House would ban all faith based criminal rehabilitation and proselytization programs from prison.( to proselytize means to convert or attempt to convert someone from one religion or belief system to another.)
  • Octos - This house supports US military intervention in the Mexican Drug War.
  • Quarters - In April 2007, the British Home Office introduced PREVENT, an initiative to stop British Muslim youth from being lured into violent extremism. Muslim organizations in Britain would receive Prevent funding to organize “Spittin’ Light” hip-hop shows, where American and British Muslim rappers with “mainstream interpretations” of Islam would parade their talents. This House supports the British government's use of funding initiatives to moderate radical Islamist art subcultures.
  • Semis - In cases where a citizen dies at the hands of a police officer, This House believes that the officer ought be automatically indicted for manslaughter. (To indict is to bring a formal accusation against, as a means of bringing to trial.)
  • U16 Finals - This House believes that health charities ought not accept any donation from companies or individuals who produce or profit from the sale of goods which have harmful health effects (e.g., tobacco companies/fast food, etc.)

2013-14:
Junior National Debating Championships (Toronto):
  • Round 1 and 2 (Prepared) - THW not permit countries that violate human rights to host the Olympics.
  • Round 3 - This House regrets the annual commemoratation of past wars.
  • Round 4 - This house would require countries that are the largest polluters to take in environmental refugees.
  • Round 5 - This house believes that assassination is a legitimate tactic of foreign policy.
  • Round 6 - This house believes that parents should secretly install spyware on their children's electronic devices.
  • Semi-Finals - This house would impose a tax on low-brow entertainment in order to subsidize high-brow art.
  • Finals - Humans have developed the ability to travel through space (aka the Starship Enterprise). You discover an alien civilization with whom humans have had no prior contact. We have vastly superior technology and medicine. This House would not contact the alien civilization.

  • Round 1 and 2 (Prepared) - This house believes that party leaders should be chosen by the caucus rather than the party membership.

Queens University:
  • Round 1 - THW ban the advertisement of alcohol.
  • Round 2 - THBT insular religious communities should mandate that their members spend a year in mainstream society.
  • Round 3 - THW make the termination of upper management (CEOs, CFOs, etc.) of companies a requirement for the receipt of government bailouts.
  • Round 4 - THW make passengers criminally liable in cases of drunk driving when they have reason to believe the driver has been drinking.
  • Round 5 - TH regrets the rise of the "Culture of Connectivity".
  • Round 6 - THBT developing democracies should ban political parties with an idealogical opposition to democracy.
  • Octo-Finals - Under legislation passed on December 10, Israeli authorities can detain illegal immigrants entering the country for up to a year without trial. 30,000 illegal African migrants (mostly Eritrean and Sudanese) in Israel began marching in protest to the embassies of Canada, France, Britain, and others demanding that they exert pressure on Israel to recognize them as refugees, stop arresting them and free those imprisoned. This House, as Canada, would publicly support the protestors.
  • Quarter-Finals - This House would remove all users of performance enhancing drugs from sports halls of fame.
  • Semi-Finals - THBT Internet companies should build in additional security measures to resist and undermine NSA attempts to access user data.

  • Round 2 - TH, as a newly democratized state, would not allow individuals associated with the old regime to run for office.
  • Round 3 - TH, as the coach of a national sports team, would never hire athletes that are known to be racist, homophobic or sexist.
  • Round 4 - A wealthy, French art collector has died, and in his last will instructed for an old and famous French painting to be cremated with him. THW not allow him to destroy the art.
  • Round 5 - THBT musicians from developed nations ought not perform in nations with poor human rights records.

  • Quarters – In ten years, NASA will be able to send a human mission to Mars, but the astronauts will not return alive.This house believes that NASA should still fund the mission.
